A little Monday night FHE...

...turned into Monday night gardening.

John put his trusty skills to work and made me this Monday night:

And now there are vegetables growing in our backyard and I couldn't be more excited:

An old wives tale (according to the lady at Lowes) is to plant marigolds in your garden.
Apparently it keeps the bugs away.
Oklahoma has LOTS, and I mean LOTS of bugs.
So, clearly we bought into her story.

Fresh veggies all summer long?
Yes please!

WoW!!! I'm so Proud of you John!!! That's Great!
You're a regular carpenter. Looks very nice!!! You'll enjoy all the veggies. I've heard that tale as well, plus the merigolds look pretty anyway. Good Job! Hope it's producing when we get there--it may be a little too early. Oh well at least we'll get to see it.

I am so jealous!! I asked Cody if I could make grow boxes...he said no. Not sure why he is being such a fun sucker on this!!! They look awesome!!

This is Cynthia, Cynthia's niece. :)I followed your link from Ems blog. Your garden looks great and the tip about the Marigolds is true. We have been doing that for years and there are never any bugs in our broccoli.

It's an old man's tale too. The residents at the nursing home could talk about gardening 24/7. Oh wait. They do!
Excited for your veggies. You do have your Betty Crocker apron ready, right?

Wow you guys are fast. It took us one weekend to build our frame, one weekend to get the dirt. And now tomorrow we are going to get the plants and plant them for FHE! Yes, the marigold thing works - my parents always did that in their garden.
